Marte graduated in 2002 from the Utrecht School of the Arts. She also studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Antwerp and the Academy of Visual Arts Maastricht. Since graduating, Marte has been working as an independent visual artist and has her own painting and drawing studio. Marte regularly exhibits in various galleries and museums.

Painting with oil paint is a very old and versatile technique. You can use it to paint very refined in multiple layers, but also directly and expressively. In the course you will receive an explanation about the different types of oil paint, brushes and surfaces (such as painting on linen or panel).

We start by painting with the refined oil painting technique and end with the expressive technique. We work based on still lifes, landscape and portrait. You can also paint according to your own themes and subjects. During the lessons, various artists from history who painted with oil paint are discussed, from Jan van Eijck or Vermeer to the abstract works of Rothko. The course is suitable for beginners or experienced painters who want to brush up on their technique.

Practical; Materials for the egg tempera are available during the course.

The colors of watercolor paint have an intense, transparent and bright appearance. You can paint with it quickly and spontaneously or in multiple layers. During the course you will look for your own painting style and theme choice. In addition to painting with watercolor paint, you can also paint with egg tempera. This is an age-old technique of the Flemish primitives and icon painters.

You will work with the themes of still life, portrait and landscape, among other things. You can choose to use one of the two paint types or a combination of them. The techniques can be used side by side, because both types of paint are made on a water basis. This course is suitable for beginners and advanced students.

You will work with different themes such as landscapes, objects, portraits and animals. You will also look to develop your own style and choice of subject. You will learn different drawing techniques, such as working layer over layer and drawing with hatches and structures. You will also learn more about the different types of paper.

The longer drawing course provides more depth for developing your own style and drawing techniques. The course is suitable for beginners and advanced students.

Watercolor paint is a bright and intense type of paint that you can use to paint in many ways; spontaneously with loose brush strokes or in several layers on top of each other. In this course you will work with natural painting and drawing materials such as the bright, intense colors of pigment, egg tempera, oil paint, pencil or chalk. There is also room to choose your own topics and materials. You develop your own technique and style. Each lesson explains different techniques and materials. Various topics are discussed such as; landscape, portrait and animal.

There is also the option to work on your own themes. The monthly interval also provides room to continue working at home, although this is not necessary. This way you build up your very own oeuvre.

From soft pastels to bursts of color. In this watercolor course you will discover the typical painting and brush techniques of watercolor.
