By looking at examples you can find out what suits your way of painting. We work in different materials: oil paint, acrylic paint, watercolor, but also in tempera and mixed techniques. Every lesson there is an assignment to work on and there is room to work on your own topics. These are freely selectable: from figurative to abstract. We work in a group, but the guidance is individual. By seeing each other's work develop, you also come up with new ideas and encourage each other to find their own style.

Tuition fee: €2.235,-

The vocational training "Drawing and Painting – Classical Studio" is for those who want to become proficient in drawing and painting from observation and in classical drawing and painting techniques. You learn to look and to represent what you see on a flat surface. Visual concepts such as shape, line, tonal values, light and shadow are discussed in detail. Step by step you will learn to create the illusion of space on the flat surface. You start by drawing with different materials and eventually switch to painting. This will mainly be in oil paint, but other types of paint such as acrylic, watercolor and gouache are also discussed. When the weather is good, work can also be done outside 'en plein air'. Learning to observe plays a very important role in all assignments. Topics such as (plaster) model, tonal values, perspective, color, composition, still life, architecture and landscape are discussed. It is a course in which you develop your skills sustainably, ultimately allowing you to fully master the profession of classical draftsman and painter.

No prior knowledge or prior training is required for the Professional Drawing and Painting - Classical Studio course. Every student starts with the program of the first year of study. The course is intended for those who want to master the technical side of classical drawing and painting. In addition to the weekly lesson day, homework is given which requires approximately two hours of work per week.

The vocational training "Drawing and Painting - Art History" is for anyone who wants to delve into the history of art: this may be because you are active as an artist or have a purely theoretical interest. You will become acquainted with the most important styles and movements and learn to distinguish them from each other. Learning to look plays an important role in this. The program is based on the propaedeutic phase of the Art History course at a university. In addition to theoretical aspects about style, iconography and cultural-historical background, material-technical aspects are also discussed extensively. This will teach you to see how artists created their works of art over time. Based on this information, you as an artist can also experiment with these techniques yourself.
