Develop your own style

Every painter develops his own style at some point. A unique way of expressing that is a translation of his ideas or feelings, but style does not come to you.

In this course we explore possibilities to develop that own style. This way you can start collecting visual material that appeals to you personally, to use it while painting. You will also get examples from art history. This way you can look for relationships in the choices you make in terms of color, tone, shape, proportions and composition. You can work in oils, acrylics and even in medieval techniques with tempera. You can use a projector to put your performance on canvas or paper if drawing is too cumbersome. Choices develop from your personal interests, experiences and feelings and these will determine your style. You will be amazed at the fast jumps you make.

The guidance is individual, but we work in a group. The group creates very diverse work, from extremely figurative to completely abstract. Seeing the work of other participants emerge can be inspiring and stimulating.

The fun of making is paramount.
