The Drawing and Painting Course – Classical Studio is for those who want to become proficient in drawing and painting from observation and in classical drawing and painting techniques. You learn to look and to represent what you see on a flat surface. Visual concepts such as form, line, tonal values, light and shadow are discussed extensively. Step by step you learn to create the illusion of space on a flat surface. You start by drawing with different materials and eventually make the transition to painting. This will mainly be in oil paint, but other types of paint such as acrylic, watercolor and gouache are also discussed. In good weather you can also work outside ‘en plein air’. Learning to observe plays a very important role in all assignments. Subjects such as (plaster) model, tonal values, perspective, color, composition, still life, architecture and landscape are discussed. It is a course in which you develop your skills sustainably so that you eventually fully master the profession of classical draftsman and painter.
No prior knowledge or training is required for the Drawing and Painting Course – Classical Studio. Each student starts with the program of the first year of the course.

The course is intended for those who want to master the technical side of classical drawing and painting. The course is also very suitable for those who have already attended an art academy but want to further professionalize themselves as a classical artist. In addition to the weekly lesson day, homework is given that must be worked on for approximately two hours per week.
