Illustrative design course

Are you curious about the world of illustration? Do you want to learn how to translate your creative ideas into unique images? During this course you will discover how to develop your own style and bring your creativity to life.

What can you expect?

In six inspiring weeks you will learn:

• Generate original ideas with association techniques.

• Explore different forms of editorial illustration (such as spot illustrations, covers and character design).

• Work with various techniques: from pencil and paper to stencils, collage and stamping techniques.

Each lesson starts analog with pencil and paper, after which we experiment with graphic techniques. Do you want to work out your design digitally later? That is possible, but that is entirely up to you.

Basic Graphic Design

Discover the art of graphic design and learn to give visual form to your ideas

This course will start again in September 2025.

From spring 2025, its information will be online.

In this course you will explore the basic principles of graphic design with elements such as shape, color, typography and layout. With the main goal: to use these to convey your message as effectively as possible.

Each lesson highlights an aspect using examples and you will work with this manually. By sketching and experimenting with different graphic techniques (including stencil, collage, stamp technique) you will explore the visual effects of image elements, materials, scale and composition. You will then use this knowledge when designing posters that you put together on the computer.

The following components will be covered:
